There’s one major news story today sweeping through the city today: selfies. That’s according to the local news stations on Twitter, at least, which are picking up the story that “selfie” is Oxford English Dictionary’s 2013 word of the year. Some people just love being in front of a camera.

I haven’t seen any of their shows this morning — I prefer not to wait for relevant stories to sometimes pop up among the awkward scripted banter and patronizing human interest stories — but I’m sure the selfie-story got some serious airtime today. Only Fox 8 hasn’t tweeted about selfies (yet); good for them. Here are the posts either tweeted by the major local news stations or retweeted into their feed.

  1. Unfortunately, while they were busy taking these selfies, Godzilla raged outside, fighting the military, until he wandered off to Detroit to take a massive dump.
