Shaker Rocks is located in Shaker Heights on Warrensville Center Road, across the street from the new Van Aken District and next to the Shaker Heights city pool. It’s open to both novice and experienced climbers, which means you don’t have to be Alex Honnold to strap in.
Facilities include top rope, lead climbing and bouldering walls. It’s also got a gear shop, yoga room, and “climbing fitness area.” Like any old gym, Shaker Rocks has showers and lockers on site.
There will be a big opening ceremony from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Guests can expect music, trivia, climbing and a barbecue dinner. Things’ll get underway with a ceremonial ribbon cutting promptly at 5.
In a press release, Shaker Rocks said its mission is “to provide a unique opportunity for sport, camaraderie and civic pride. It is a climbing and social hub for local residents, a destination spot for the entire region, and a supporter of environmentally and socially responsible actions.”
