Retired political reporter and Cleveland Press Club Hall of Famer Tom Beres will live stream interviews with six candidates for Ohio Governor April 3-11.

“I want in-depth discussions that will allow for more than 10-second sound bites or the food fight of a debate,” Beres said in statement announcing the series.

The interviews will have a one-on-one David Letterman “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” vibe. They’ll be recorded at the University of Akron and  livestreamed both on the University’s YouTube channel and on Channel 3’s website.

Expect Beres, who hosted his own weekly politics show, “Between the Lines,” to probe the candidates on issues like the opioid epidemic, gun violence and Ohio’s lagging economy.

Beres worked for more than 35 years at WKYC, serving as Senior Political Correspondent for the final 18. He is a member of the Cleveland Press Club Hall of Fame Class of 2011. When he retired from reporting, in 2016, Cleveland City Council honored him by naming the portion of Lakeside Avenue where WKYC is headquartered “Tom Beres Way.”

Here’s the schedule for the governor interviews:

• Joe Schiavoni (D) — 10 a.m. April 3.
• Mary Taylor (R) — 10:30 a.m. April 5.
• William O’Neill (D) — 3 p.m. April 5.
• Dennis Kucinich (D) — 9:30 a.m. April 6.
