Tom Ganley is a Republican fighting for a house seat in Ohio’s 13th district.

In an interview with Roll Call recently, he was asked whether he believes President Obama is a Muslim. Ya know, because that’s essential information for his constituents to have.

Anyway, Ganley’s answer was bizarre. He said, “I don’t have a position on whether he’s a Muslim.”

Sounds like a guy calling President Obama a Muslim without calling him a Muslim.

People tend to get upset about this stuff, at least the half of the nation that’s sane and doesn’t believe or care whether President Obama is a Muslim.

He clarified recently, and by ‘clarified’ we mean ‘sounded stupid again.’ From Roll Call:

“During an interview earlier today, I was asked a question about President Obama’s religion that I felt irrelevant to the story being written about my campaign for Congress,” he said. “I do not believe President Obama’s religion has any impact on the need for jobs in Ohio’s 13th district. According to the White House, our President is a Christian and I have no reason to believe otherwise.”

Thanks for clearing that up, Tom. According to this story, you are a dumbass and we have no reason to believe otherwise.

  1. Actually, according to THIS article, Vince G., is the dumbass. Fisrt off, im not a republican, or even a republican sympathizer. But basically all im getting from this article is that Ganley doesnt believe it matters what religion The president is, that it doesnt affect us, here in Ohio.

  3. I think Scene mag wants to be the stereotypical hating everything, liberal that it blasted this guy for making the right call.
    Anyone who has taken human resources knows this was a very inappropiate question to ask.
    I don’t know if Tom Ganley is a Republican or a car salesmen or what but my guess is that SCENE doesn’t like him and so here was a perceived opening.

    Scene you usually do a pretty good job but here I think you lost your objectivity. This knock on Ganley is about as relevant as the idiot add on clothes posted here.
    I don’t care what President Obama is as long as he is doing a good job.Trying to rope him in on the ground zero thing by bringing back his Muslim background is sophomoric.

  4. Totally. Wow. Thank Gosh people noticed and commented that Vince G. missed the point. Whatever this guy said made sense. Who cares if Obama is a Muslim or not. Separation of Church and State! Ganley may be a jackass, or he may not. According to that article only, he has a chance of not being a jackass in my book.
