U.S. Sen. Michael Bennett (D-Col.) will speak Friday morning at a Blockland Cleveland meeting. A spokesperson in the Senator’s Denver office said she was not authorized to comment on Bennett’s itinerary, but Blockland leader Bernie Moreno has posted in the initiative’s Facebook group that Bennett will be speaking.

“Colorado Senator Michael Bennett will share his insights on how the Federal Government sees blockchain technology and cryptocurrency,” Moreno wrote. “As a member of the Senate banking committee, he has unique insights that he will share with us.”

Friday’s meeting will be the fourth “Blockland” update. It will feature comments from co-chairs in all of the initiative’s ten working groups, called “nodes.” Information regarding the inaugural Blockland “Solutions” Conference in December and updates on “City Block,” the proposed tech campus spearheaded by Jon Pinney, can be expected.

Like prior meetings, Friday’s will take place at the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association auditorium at One Cleveland Center.  The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and is free and open to the public.

Bennett has represented Colorado in the U.S. Senate since 2009, but his resume is thick and varied. As the director of an investment company in the 90s, he helped create Regal Entertainment Group, the world’s largest movie theater chain. Later, he served as the superintendent of Denver Public Schools. In the Senate, he has focused — per the official literature — on building bipartisan consensus on pressing national issues including education, climate change, immigration, health care, and national security.
