Update VI: Remember Daniel Harless, everyone’s favorite threat-shouting, banana’s-crazy, short-tempered Canton cop? The one who was caught on video not once, not twice, but at least three times threatening to shoot suspects? Well, he was fired back in January for his transgressions, but a mediator determined that he’s eligible to get his job back. As of last week, according to NewsNet5, Harless had yet to apply. Maybe he’s just waiting until after he gets all his aggression out on a turkey this week.

Sure wish the officer’s name was posted, would lend much more credibility to the story. Lying cops have no problem lying to the press and exposing the names of those they abuse, their names are on a public record and should be printed in the press as well.
This guy has serious anger issues. The citizen was polite through the entire encounter. This cop should find a new line of work. The guy made a good faith effort to inform the cop of his gun. Bottom line he told the cop he had a gun BEFORE the cop found it. Problem is, the guy was too polite. Had he been more forceful n rude, maybe he would have got his statement out. Instead, he defered to this out of control cop. Hopefully a jury will see this for what it was…. There was NO intent to violate the law. Now, had he said nothing at al and the cop found the gun, then he would be in violation. The cops attitude alone, from the start, destroys any credibilty he may have had.
It’s not all that surprising to me that there are law enforcement agents who act in this manner. It’s almost a pre-requisite that you be bullied in high school and have a general need to overcompensate for low self-esteem to join the police force. This guy was probably just trying to maximize his power trip because when he gets home, the wife runs the show.
Ohio CCW seems very concerned about the implications of informing an officer right away. Maybe people other than police should be carrying guns. Getting rid of a stupid law would take care of the whole problem. Cops wouldn’t be scared crazy of random people carrying guns and that guy wouldn’t have to worry about informing an officer when he gets pulled over.

Yes it is required for the ccw permit holder to inform the officer that he is carrying a concelaed weapon. but as you can see that the officer ran the plate and if the dispatcher would have came back with the info the officer would have known that he was possibly carrying a weapon. but instead the officer wanted to pay more attention to the other two occupants while the registered owner sat in the vehicle. and at every attempt he tried to advise the officer he was blew off. in my oppinion this officer shall be fired from duty as a canton police officer. for all the misconduct that clearly took place on this dash cam video. therefore i hope that the individuals here file a lawsuit against the city of canton for the threats that were made. I was stopped by a lindale officer and i failed to advise him, I had my weapon secured in my duty bag in the rear seat of my vehicle. I was pulled out and questioned but that officer and no time ever even came close to acting like this cop. not only am I a licensed holder I am a armed security officer as well. and I come from a family of LE. I back the police up 100% and when im on duty i back them up! but this officer has got to be let go. I hope the city of canton uses good judgement on this one. If Bartlett had tried to reach for his concealed carry license a officer with that kind of attitude would have shot him. Administrative leave is another word for paid vacation! As soon as people start to forget, he’ll be right back at it! We the People need to keep the heat on the city of Canton until he is fired. Until we stand up for our rights, they will continue to trample all over them. While our rights are enumerated in the Constitution, it does not guarantee them. That part is up to us. When someone of authority, like this loser is discovered, it is our responsibility to make sure he gets his walking papers. If laws have been broken in the process, prosecution is mandatory. In the “good ol’ days” cops had to be polite. They really had to have probable cause to destroy the 4th ammendment. Now they just do whatever the hell they want. That’s why they have dashcams and mics on them, and most of them still get away with this kind of crap! Well enough is enough. It’s a tough job. We get it. And there are plenty of bad citizens out there too! Fine. Arrest them.and prosecute them too! But for real crimes. Not because the private prison down the street needs more slave labor! Had the driver planned to shoot the pimp if he and his prostitute tried to rob him? I’m sure carry concealed does not permit doing armed drug deals because you have a state permit to carry a gun and can buy illegal drugs legally armed; nor does it give you the right to buy sex from a prostitute legally armed, accompanied by her pimp, who you worry might try an rip you off. The driver had plenty of time to reveal he had a firearm, while the back seat was being searched by one of the officers. This is a perfect example of a man probably out buying sex and putting himself in harm’s way, but because he has the legal right to carry a concealed weapon feels he has the right to shoot a man if the deal goes bad or personally against his wishes. This is a case for state legislators, because already reforms are needed. Since more problems of this sort and other similar types are bound to surface in the future. “Why would a person permitted to carry concealed be in the presents of a drug dealer or a prostitute and her pimp, when these professions are associated with crime?”

CANTON, Ohio — A part-time police officer in an Ohio township has been fired after a cruiser’s dashboard video camera recorded her sharing kisses with the police chief while a prisoner was in the car’s back seat.
Perry Township trustees last night fired 30-year-old Janine England. She was hired April 13. Township police Chief Timothy Escola retired June 30 after four years with the department about 50 miles south of Cleveland.
Trustees had received England’s letter of resignation earlier Tuesday. In the letter, England describes her work as exemplary but says leaving would be in the best interest of the department.
Township Law Director Charles Hall recommended she be fired. Hall had received an anonymous allegation that prompted a review of the cruiser’s camera from the June 2 incident.
I am wondering if this nut job’s partner filed a report about this out of control behavior? Does anyone else think he owes it to his oath to protect?

By all means, only fine, stable people like this cop should carry concealed weapons.
Concealed carry for normal people is the law in more than 40 states now, and has been the norm in the majority of the country for two decades. Many states have no requirement to notify and it has caused no problems. Plenty of sane cops aren’t at all bothered by permitted citizens carrying because they know that these people are the ones least likely to harm them.
I wonder if this nutjob is going to somehow get a “medical retirement” out of the deal. Mental illness is included in the AWDA, and I would guess there’s some union-negotiated clause in his employment contract that sends him to Easy Street for what he’ll probably claim is “job related”.
Why did they roll up on them in the first place?

I am truly glad that the driver was not black, because the officer would have made good on his words of stepping back and using his glock 40 to put 10 bullets in his chest. When is someone going to do something about these gang member known as the police. The public as a whole no longer trust those who are suppose to protect and serve. As a tax payer, I think I deserve better for my money, and peace of mind. I am afraid of the police, because of the wrongs that they have been allowed to get away with.
If those officers done their job according to the way they were trained and they were’t idiots they would of had the passenger and driver to keep his hands where they could see them and stay in vehicle while they checked the drivers info then ordered the passenger out of vehicle detained him and placed him in handcuffs for his and their safety until he was identified and told women to identify herself detained her with same procedures until they made sure everyone was cleared of warrants or possible contraband or weapons on persons i.e. and got the correct info from dispatch which would of helped . The only reason this officer is so upset and is lucky that he didn’t stop a wanted fugitive or someone who is serially a threat to society with nothing to lose,because they could’ve both lost their lives .I suggest those officers go read “On Patrol” and learn how to make a safe stop and not put themselves at risk bumbling idiots they make Dumb Cops look smart go back to school canton police thats Basic 101 “It’s Not A Routine ” Every Day and Night and Every Call or Stop is different always proceed with Caution secure everyone and approach the driver to take keys out of ignition and could of asked him to put his hands on the dash until he was identified while your partner “brother covered you dumb ass and then the driver could of told you of his concealed gun. As a CCW Holder in Ohio for the past 8-1/2 years I have been pulled over by cops a few times for speeding violations. The first thing these police officers have done was to run my License Plates in their Computers. They always receive Notification that the driver of the vehicle has a Concealed Carry permit. In the situation that happened in Canton, the Driver and CCW Holder said to the officer that he just got his CCW and had it less then a month. With the millions of people now getting CCW permits – perhaps there was a delay in getting his information put into the system. I myself have been warned by officers that I didn’t notify them quickly enough – because I exchanged greetings with the officer or answered his questions first on why I thought I was being stopped. I do agree that Police Officers, especially in the larger cities can have a dangerous career. They don’t all have it easy like Andy Griffith as Sheriff Taylor in Mayberry. But Police Officers are also supposed to be trained to be fair and protect our citizens. And as far as CCW Holders – Well I believe we have just as much rights as a Police Officer to carry our loaded weapons.

This is a terrible way to do that job,No excuse. However please do not believe that all Police officers act like this.i know some police officers i have dealt with police and have never been treated unfair.Actually if your truthful and respectful they will treat you the same way.99% of the time.There is always that 1% in anything.Remember Respect goes a long way when your dealing with anything with a heartbeat.

PTSD, treated or untreated, is no excuse for that. PTSD isn’t an excuse for bad behavior just like PTSD isn’t an excuse for drinking and driving or assaulting someone. I’m sick and tired of people using PTSD as another lame ass reason to not take responsibility for their own actions.
