WOW HE IS SO FUNNY! What a professional comedian! “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to get drunk enough to make that game watchable.” – I’d be willing to bet about 20,000 people said something similar to that downtown. Polk is a comedian for morons. He says obvious, mainstream, and mostly stupid things.
What Mike Polk IS, is a fan voicing he frustrations of the Browns faithful (of which I am one). Will people still show up at the stadium next Sunday? OF COURSE. The Browns faithful will ALWAYS come out en mass; that is part of the problem. We keep giving the owners and staff our money to lose. We have embraced the mantra of “There is always next year” as our own personal creed! Other cities wouldn’t stand for it, but we are in an abusive relationship with Browns owners (no matter who they are) and the city. We LOVE our Browns, so they can go through the motions of trying to make things better…or pretending they care and we accept it and carry on. No one can say Clevelanders are wimps, we can take a beating and we prove it every Sunday. I have cheered for the Browns since I was a child. I will continue to do so as an adult. However, my first love is hockey and it is a welcomed haven from the horror of Cleveland football.
Ya Sarah, everyone should stop going because they hate football, and lose their team. That’s what other cities do, right? (well, probably not) Not having a team would be excellent for the city, economy, and people of Northeast Ohio. There is a conspiracy between every owner, president, GM, and coach to lose on purpose. Everyone loves every hire and change (Holmgren, Haslem) and thanks they are the greatest thing and then hates them when they don’t get the job done. Polk can do what he wants, but it’s not any comedic brilliance. It’s the same as talking to my next door neighbor. Why do I need someone to try to make viral videos about the mundane?
I must say, I love being a Clevelander. I have a lot of pride in my city, but I am simply sick of losing. I am sick of corruption and the lack of commitment from sports teams and leaders. It is absolutely ridiculous that I have to sit down every week and see my sports team (no matter who it is) get beat down over and over again. Why do the people of Cleveland continue to spend money?! Stop spending. Save it. Use it to buy something that has more meaning. Stop spending it on a football team that spends money relentlessly. $120 million for a new scoreboard? They don’t deserve it. Win games, then ask for money. I am done watching sports until they start winning. DONE.
