Update III: In addition to yanking Shena Hardin’s license for 30 days and forking over a $250, the judge sentenced everyone’s favorite a-hole driver to some public shaming. Next Tuesday and Wednesday you can find Hardin at the corner of E. 38th and Payne wearing a sign that reads: “Only an idiot would drive around a school bus.” Let’s all go keep her company, yeah? (WOIO)

Update II: Shena Hardin’s charges stemming from her round-about avoidance of a pesky schoolbus have been reduced to a third-degree felony. She is still an a-hole and prosecutors are still working on sentencing. (19 Action News)

Update: Shena Hardin, the woman who was videotaped driving on a sidewalk to get around that pesky law that says you have to stop for a school bus, was in court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to a citation of not stopping for a school bus. Which there is video evidence of her doing. On the internet. Everywhere. Not guilty.

She’s due back in court next month, at which time she’s probably hoping the judge will be gone and someone from the NFL’s replacement ref crew will be behind the bench. (WOIO)

Driving on a sidewalk to get around the pesky law that says if a school bus is stopped on a two-lane street you have to stop? Yeah, that’ll qualify you for A-Hole of the Week. Especially since it’s just breaking another law to avoid the first.

Thankfully, the bus driver captured the woman’s creative evasive driving techniques on video and got it into the hands of the proper authorities and 19 Action News.

  1. I’m glad that this woman got nailed by the cops, but am I the only one who’s wondering how (and why?) the driver managed to get it on video?

  3. Logan Persons: The woman was apparently doing this on a daily basis. The driver made two videos. The first one he made in order to show to the police, and then this second one was while the police were ready to bust her. You can see the other video at the various local TV news sites.

  4. Isnt it illegal for a School Bus driver to use a camera or cell phone while operating the vehicle ?
    Glad my kid wasnt on that moving bus while the operator decided to make a movie.

  6. many school buses are equipped with camera’s just for this purpose. I drive a school bus
    and mine has a camera.

  8. What kind of anger issues/hurry did this lady have to do something that dangerous and stupid, especially considering the kids that were around?

  10. So wait, she got pulled over immediately by an officer that witnessed her driving on the sidewalk around a school bus, AND she was caught on camera too. Yet, she pleads not guilty so we can waste the court’s time with this? Really? What exactly will be her defense? The school bus was cloaked and she couldn’t see it? I mean, really, what defense can she have? Insanity?

OBVIOUSLY the bus driver was NOT DRIVING while he shot the video….which was exactly the point, the “driver” would not wait as required for the child the board the bus (which was NOT moving)…the video was shot for people who would not have believed the irresponsibility and stupidty of the “driver”…she should have to pay more in fines and spend some community service time working with special needs children!

  13. Look, the bus driver got this on video because this lady has pulled this little stunt MULTIPLE times. So, this time the driver was ready with a camera, AND the cops were waiting right down the street. Do you really think the cops just happened to be there? They were tipped off by the driver to this lunatic driver’s behavior, and were ready.

    I’m so happy she got this sentence, and I plan to personally drive past her just so I can either (1) flip her off, or (2) point and laugh.
