We Do Work, Occasionally
I remember writing in to Scene, slightly in shock over the apparent lack of respect this publication gets [“The Imperial Retiree,” August 26, 2012]. It was basically relatives telling me, “The PD exposed Mike White!” — nevermind the fact that Scene ran same exposé a week earlier — and laughed it off as “He thinks that Scene is a REAL newspaper!” Don’t worry all: Scene‘s beat the Plain Peeler to scoops and it will do so again. And thanks to taking the shot that the beloved TP refuses.

Ha, He Said ‘Hard’
Frank Kuznik. A real man says the hard truth. White brought the underclass to Cleveland. The PD is a nervous shill. Also, it’s about time someone acknowledged the way in which Modell was treated. White took him for granted.

Filming Cleveland as European is another reason to preserve the old buildings rather than tear them down for new construction [“Lights! Camera! Cleveland!” August 29, 2012]. End all tax abatement on new construction.

On One Hand…
We’ve been to Reddstone twice for a relaxing meal on the patio and both times had very attentive and friendly service [“Reddstone Reboot,” August 22, 2012]. I’ve tried two different burgers and agree that a toasted bun would be a welcome addition. My huge pile of thin fries were pretty darn crispy each time. The drinks were well composed and the beer options are strong. The blue potato salad isn’t anything to write home about. We’ve never gone there when we’ve been in a hurry — so for a relaxing burger and beer on the patio, Reddstone works for us.

…But On the Other
Strange review. The opening paragraph makes it sound like it was going to be a good review, but then he goes on to list disappointment after disappointment. YODO

On scene getting no respect I totally agree. The PD cannot write anything much because the great stories usually involve powerful advertisers. I think the corruption probe was well handled but that is because county government officials don’t advertise in the paper.
I do see some signs that the old regime has moved towards the new county government and that worries me. It is like watching an old alligator slowly slither towards a new bright pelican on the shore. Cleveland is really doing well right now and if you disagree drive around downtown Detroit and see how bad it can really be. But I also drive around downtown Chicago and see how great we can really be as well. I was recently told while on a flight over Burke that they will never close the airport on the lake. While everything else the city leaders should have done they seem to be doing that is one last mystery I will never understand.
Instead of YODO, it’s YOLO. Duh.
