The Plain Dealer‘s Tim Warsinskey published a nice profile of Christian Hanson, a hockey player trying out for the Lake Erie Monsters who just happens to have a familial connection to 1977’s “Slap Shot.”

Christian’s father, David Hanson, played Jack Hanson, one of the three Hanson Brothers in the fairly legendary Paul Newman flick. Check out the trailer below for a handful of clips featuring the trio’s aggressive ways. David’s acting followed his own on-rink willingness to start fights. He played in both the NHL and the WHA.

Prior to the Monsters training camp, Christian, 28, played in the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues organizations.
