The owners of Lakewood’s West End Tavern have issued a press release saying that they’ve temporarily suspended the 23-year-old server who used an “inappropriate and degrading term” on a bar tab this weekend.

Though the term was intended as a joke among friends, the server said, West End Tavern owners want to send a message that this sort of language won’t be tolerated.

“The West End Tavern abhors this type of slur. It isn’t funny and it hurts our friends and our customers,” the release said. “We welcome all of our guests. The employee has been suspended until we ensure that she and other employees understand that words hurt.”

  1. What happened? What was the slur? Was the server joking around with friends they waited on? If so, how did this get on social media?

  2. Did you click on the link in the article that takes you to the original story? No? Then yeah just complain about it in the comments section.
