According to an internal Clear Channel email, Chad Zumock has been fired from his gig on WMMS following last week’s arrest for OVI.

Zumock tweeted that there was more to the story than what had been relayed in the media thus far. Hopefully we’ll hear from our favorite half of I Can’t Believe it’s not Hall and Oates very soon.

Vince Grzegorek has been with Scene since 2007 and editor-in-chief since 2012. He previously worked at Discount Drug Mart and Texas Roadhouse.

  1. Vince Grzegorek gets the title of “First person ever to ‘favor’ Chad over Mike Polk.”

  2. Radio station promotes some kind of beer brand every few minutes, yet a simple OVI for one of the on-air folks and he’s canned. Hard to believe the home of the buzzard has become such an uptight corporate entity.

  3. “The Home of the Buzzard” is owned by Clear Channel, this is his second OVI, he’s clearly had prior issues with management, and he wrecked a freaking car he was doing local advertising for.

  4. I hope he gets himself some help. He clearly has a problem and it was too much of a liability for a business. He is now a repeat offender and more likely to keep going and have further trouble.

Personally, I don’t find him funny and from a show standpoint, I’m glad to see him go. But as a person going through some difficult stuff, I wish him all the best.

  5. Personally I find terrestrial radio lacking…Good thing there are EXCELLENT college stations and Pandora, slacker, iheart, fm and a host of others…

    ‘mms sucks….

Care to elaborate? I’m just an occasional listener.

  7. This is really sad…….not just for Cleveland radio but for the U.S. morning show market as a whole. With Howard Stern not getting any younger not to mention Lanigan and Malone having gotten stale of late this Alan Cox show was about to hit it BIG TIME!?!?!!? Rumor has it that they were about to hire Fez Whatley to be a side kick to Doushy and Chompers (that’s what my friends and I call Chad) to help put them on the road to syndication.

  8. I didn’t know that WMMS was still around. I quit listening to it a decade or so ago. It’s primarily college radio or the local independents in the car with some classic rock mixed in and satellite radio at the house.

  9. @ Rusty Comforter…The Alan Cox show is on afternoons not mornings. And Erika Lauren is the female co host. You clearly don’t listen to the show.

  10. This news is the worst! From Cleveland now living in ATL, I enjoyed listening to their show via iheart daily. Chad was the only one on there that was from Cleveland and no matter if you thought he was hilarious or not, he brought good stories and a familiarity that felt like home. Bring back Chad!! The legendary WMMS should relax their ties, offer up some help and bring back Chad!! After all, we are all human and do make mistakes! Now I have to find new afternoon entertainment..ugggh 🙁

  11. Chad Zumock is extremely irresponsible. He is the only radio personality that you see out on the bar scene regularly, he tries to hit on girls half of his age and is a huge partier. Clear channel should not loosen their ties and give him a break. Chad broke his contract and the rules are the rules. He should have thought before he drove drunk. Clearly this is an issue and he should take the proper steps to get his life together and grow up. Just because you’re somewhat in the spotlight doesn’t mean you should be exempt from the rules that everybody else abides by. It is absolutely ridiculous that people are in favor of chads irresponsible decision. He is so incredibly lucky he didn’t kill someone else or himself. Chad needs to use this opportunity to really reevaluate his life and priorities.. Partying on west 6th, or keeping your career.

  12. Partying on W6 is pretty lame anyway…Chicks with clown paint and that bitch perma scowl and jersey shore wannabe’s?
the best of dooshbag Cleveland youth….

  13. clwistinse: That was about the most sane comment I have read on clevescene blog. Then I saw it was your first. This site could use some more smart folks. Joe 12950 is real smart, but he is the only one who has the tact to be nice while critisizing people.. NOT.

  14. It is very sad that this happen to Chad. I do agree that he apparently needs help.
I hope that he sees it as well.

The Allen Cox Show makes my long hours on he road as truck driver pass by quicker.

Chad, please take this as a sign, and look in the mirror my friend,,,, it’s time to get your poop together.

    I will miss Chad ALOT!!!

Keep up the GREAT work A C and Erika,,, I LOVE YOU GUYS

    SINCERELY!

  15. There are just certain things you should not do, and driving drunk is one of them. It’s really easy to screw up a good thing, and he learned the hard way this can happen. I’m bummed, because he was a great guy to listen to on the radio. You can’t mess with drunk driving though, people die all the time because of drunk drivers.
