You Can Bid On J.R. Smith’s Game-Worn Jersey From Infamous Game 1 Of NBA Finals

After he got the rebound after a George Hill missed free throw with under 5 seconds to go in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and the Cavaliers tied with the Golden State Warriors, J.R. Smith dribbled around and didn’t shoot the ball. The Cavaliers then lost in overtime, despite a 51 point effort from LeBron James. The Warriors went on to sweep the series, four games to none. Now, you can bid on the jersey Smith wore when he committed the now infamous blunder.

As it currently stands, the jersey, which is being auctioned by the NBA, has been bid on 59 times and is going for about $3,000. Bidding is open until June 21. Smith, who was instrumental in the Cavaliers title run in 2016, is signed for one more year with a team option for the 2019-20 season.

After the Finals were over, LeBron admitted to punching a whiteboard and breaking his hand after Game 1. While the bad block/charge call was mostly to blame for James’ uncharacteristic emotional outburst, Smith’s blunder surely added to his frustration.
