Veterans, the Irish, and Martin Luther King Jr. only get one holiday. Stoners, apparently, get two.
July 10 has been declared a “secondary stoner holiday” to supplement the widely practiced (yet entirely unofficial) national pot-smoking day, 420.
According to High Times, it’s not so much the date that is important today, but rather the number.
710 is the word OIL spelled upside down. Hash oil, honey oil, and “wax” are potent concentrations of marijuana that are popular in both the national and local pot-smoking scenes today.
So there you have it: July 10 is now known as “Dab Day.”
Even Cleveland Indian’s pitcher Chris Perez was gearing up for today’s holiday.

Um, okay? It probably would have been helpful, though, if they announced their new secondary holiday in advance. Announcing it last minute makes it a little difficult to, I dunno, plan for said secondary holiday. Fortunately, everyone was too stoned to care or even realize that a secondary holiday had been declared.
Getting a handle on the real thing~Cannabis, a true wake up call for me as a hopeful.
Wrt to the post about announcing the day *after* the fact — seems about right!
Get a “head” start (wah, wah) on planning for next year.
