Beginning Wednesday, October 7, the Beachland Ballroom will be opening up for weekday lunch service, a first for the 15-year-old venue. The new lunch service joins Saturday lunches, Sunday brunches and showtime dinners.

“A lot of neighbors and fans have been asking us when we were expanding our food hours since our brunch on Sunday has proven a success and we've been steadily building Saturday lunch,” explains owner Cindy Barber. “With more activity on Waterloo now and in the near future, it seems like the right time to add daytime hours.”

Folks who stop in between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will have their pick from a wide range of items culled from the already popular brunch and dinner menus. The offerings include starters like the “Pealafel bites” with garlic tahini, grilled cheese or North Coast turkey sandwiches, those killer buttermilk fried chicken and biscuit sandwiches, and big plates of chicken and waffles, chicken chilaquiles or baked mac and cheese.

To go with the expanded days and hours of operation, the Beachland also recently expanded its draft beer offerings.

Also, adds Barber, “We will now be able to offer to-go lunches for people who work in the neighborhood. Or they can use us as a coffee shop and come hang and use our strong Wi-Fi.”

Speaking of coffee shop: To help build momentum for new neighbor Peter Brown and his Six Shooter Coffee, which will open up down the block this winter, Barber will house a pop-up shop during those weekday lunch hours.

“During October and November, Brown will set up at a table in our tavern to sell coffee, tea and apple cider,” notes Barber.

Beachland is now offering house-ground Six Shooter Brazilian-style bean as its house coffee.
