Printmakers have an easier time than most artists getting ready for
the handmade sales that pop up all over town this time of year.
Multiple originals are built into their work, so whether it’s cards,
coasters or art prints, they’ve got inventory. The artists of Zygote
Press (1410 E. 30th St.) set out to unload some inventory at their
Holiday Show and Sale. Hours are noon-4 p.m. Friday, December 4
and Sunday, December 6, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, December 5. If you
want to shop, drink and be merry with the crowd rather than avoid it,
show up between 1-3 p.m. Saturday for the party. Call 216.621. 2900 or
go to zygotepress.com for
info.
You can also support local artists at Cleveland Handmade‘s second market of the season at the Wooltex
Gallery in the Tower Press building (1900 Superior Ave.). The 18
participating artists offer handmade clothing, knitted and crocheted
accessories, ceramics, jewelry, lampwork glass and baby stuff. It’s
from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, December 5. For info, go to clevelandhandmade.com.
Low Life Gallery‘s Enliven is a two-person show
featuring photography by Bridget Caswell and paintings by Sunia
Boneham. Caswell is a photographer for NASA; Boneham works as a
designer for the Beachland Ballroom. Though they use different media,
they both make connections between the viewer and the subject. Caswell
does it through backstories in her photos; Boneham integrates
significant objects into her “three-dimensional” paintings.
Enliven opens with a reception from 6-10 p.m. Friday, and
continues through December 26th, at Low Life Gallery (16001 Waterloo
Rd.) For information, call 330.671.6123, or go to lowlifecleveland.com.
