Green thumbs rock the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s music-themed Flower Show 2007: Rhythm & Hues. Ohio landscapers contribute 18 colorful gardens to one of the nation’s largest bloom bashes. Look for flower-filled displays with names like Bluegrass Retreat, Opera Hortensia, and Cotton Club. Plus, top designers pay tribute to instruments (the interactive Garden of Percussion, which features cymbals and a xylophone fence) and genres (the Rock and Roll Garden is decked out with a turntable patio). “We’ve got some very cool interpretations,” says spokesman Peter Vertes.
There’s also plenty of arrangements, photography, and botanical jewelry on display. “It’s not like going to a flower shop,” says Vertes. “These are works of art.” Experts lead workshops and demonstrations, and vendors unload everything from plants to gardening tools. “It’s a mecca for anyone who loves beauty,” says Vertes. “You can fall in love with it all.”
