Malajube has quite a bit in common with its fellow guitar-wielding countrymen. They all make busy pop records that would take at least a dozen people to recreate onstage. Their guitars buzz and howl under layers of other instruments. And their song arrangements dont have a clear beginning or end. The big difference with this Montreal group is that it sings entirely in French. You might not understand a word on its new CD, Trompe-loeil — Still, the hooks come through loud and clear.
