This morning, the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park announced that Club Velvet, its new venue for comedy, magic and acoustic acts, will open on March 20. The club was originally scheduled to open last month, but construction delayed the opening by a few weeks. The rocksino has partnered with the Comedy Zone to bring big-name comedians to town to play the venue.

“Comedy Zone at Club Velvet is comedy done right,” says Jon Lucas, Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park president, in a press release. “Any seat is a best seat to laugh the night away. It’s an upscale, intimate environment, allowing the audience to see acts in a comfortable, up-close, personal setting.”

The club, which will be open Thursday through Sunday, has a capacity of 310 and will feature two 10-foot retractable screens on each side of the stage. The bar inside the club has video lottery terminals and will be a place where patrons can watch televised sporting events. The upcoming comedy schedule includes Darren Sanders (March 20-23), Keith Alberstadt (March 27-30), Derek Richards (April 3-6), Patti Vasquez (April 10-13), Jeff Garlin (April 17-19), Colin Moultin (April 24-27), Dale Jones (May 8-11), Tom Simmons (May 15-18), Pete George (June 5-8), Mike Armstrong (June 12-15), Pat Godwin (June 19-22) and Russ Nagle (June 26-29).
