But Fagan and fellow funnygals Helen Keaney and Maryellen Hooper dont need a special day to pay tribute to Mom. They do it every time theyre onstage. During their stand-up routine, each plays a role: Keaney is the neighborhood hottie whos married to a felon, Hooper represents all the earth mothers who put up with accident-prone hubbies, and Fagan is the Stepford wife on way too many lattes. Were the real Desperate Housewives, says Fagan, who played Optimists Club president Faith on The Drew Carey Show. Its your typical suburban story that every woman can relate to — because they are one of us, and they know what were talking about. They laugh with us as a stress release.
Fagan says tour stops give her the opportunity to bond with mothers across the country. When every mom becomes a mom, its a constant, immediate bonding, she says. Weve all been through the same things, and were doing the best that we can. Having a sense of humor also helps.
