Fadi Daoud, owner of the upscale burger bar BRGR 9 (1382 W. Ninth St., 216-535-0001), says that his Warehouse District restaurant has been closed since Thursday, December 5 thanks to an underground water line failure.

“I think it was a crushed line under the street,” he reports. “The flood that came in our basement came from under the street.”

All of the restaurant’s walk-in coolers and storage are on the lower level, he adds. “It’s bad.”

“Closing right in the middle of the holidays is a nightmare,” he says. “My main concern is my employees — trying to keep them busy with work.”

Daoud says that city work should be completed early this week and he intends to reopen by Tuesday or Wednesday.
