Dante Boccuzzi's Goma is 'On Hold' at Pinecrest

The original timeline for Goma, a Japanese fusion concept from chef Dante Boccuzzi, called for a summer 2019 opening. Obviously, that date has come and gone. But now, diners can't be sure that there will be a Goma at all.

Boccuzzi, who also operates the 10-year-old Tremont mainstay Dante, the sushi eatery Ginko, the casual pasta shop D.C. Pasta Co., and a handful of other concepts, says that Goma officially is "on hold." The chef provided no other hints as to whether or not it will happen.

Described by Boccuzzi as "a modern Japanese, energetic, engaging experience,” Goma would have introduced an additional 180 seats to the already very crowded Pinecrest dining market. Red Steakhouse just opened the doors to its shiny-new two-level, 7,500-square-foot eatery, Oak and Embers opens this Sunday with another 220 indoor (and 40 outdoor) seats, and those are just two of nearly a dozen dining option.

Signs of stress? City Works Eatery & Pour House, a hulking 9,000-square-foot restaurant, closed last month after just a year and a half.
