One of the city’s coolest musical events, the Lottery League will return this year, and organizers are currently accepting applications from musicians who’d like to participate.

Self-described as “part rock n’ roll circus, part game show, part city-wide art project,” the Lottery League is now in its fifth season. Changes to this year's incarnation include a VIP Sessions experience that’ll allow fans behind-the-scenes access and a collaboration with Ingenuity Labs and the Hamilton Collaborative. The event’s BIG SHOW will take place in the Hamilton’s warehouse space.

It all sarts with a Showcase Fundraiser/Pre-Draft Party and the Draft, which take place on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, in both rooms at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern. The BIG SHOW, the season ending day-long free festival showcasing the first live musical performances for all the 2019 season’s newly formed bands, will take place on June 8 at the Hamilton Collaborative warehouse. The event will feature more than 150 active musicians from Northeast Ohio. They’ll be randomly drafted into about 30 all-new four piece bands. No participant can be placed into a group with anyone that he or she is currently, or has previously, collaborated with musically.

In the previous four seasons, 499 participants have formed 150 bands.

“The creativity and talent on display each year as a result of this unique process has not only produced many magical moments, it also brings together our music scene in a manner it is otherwise not ever tasked to do, resulting in lasting camaraderie and collaboration far beyond the Lottery League seasons themselves,” reads a press release about the event.
