A graduate of Shaker Heights High School’s band programs, drummer Drew Schultz, who’ll release a new album that pays tribute to Eddie Willis of the Funk Brothers, has performed/written with/toured with/recorded with an array of artists including the Four Tops, Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Funk Brothers, and many others.

A drum teacher at the Detroit Institute of Music Education, he performs in Northeast Ohio on occasion.

He’ll perform on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Nighttown with his Detroit-based soul band the Broken Habits.

Schultz and the Broken Habits will also perform at a celebration of Shaker Heights High School’s 100-year anniversary. That event takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22. It’s part of Raider Nation Night Out at the Dealership (3558 Lee Rd.) There will be food, beer and wine for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Shaker Schools Foundation.

Admission to the 100-year anniversary celebration is free, but reservations are requested.
