In an interview with Channel 5, Christopher Hampton, who’s been identified alternately as the father of the 10-year-old who led police on a high-speed chase yesterday and as the child’s mother’s boyfriend, said the kid thought it was a joke.
“He thinks everything is funny,” he told NewsNet5. “He thinks because he got away with it the first time, they ain’t going to do nothing to him this time. I told him, he could’ve hurt somebody, he could’ve hurt himself, or he could’ve been killed, he could’ve killed somebody else… and you knew you were wrong. Everything you do is not a joke.”
“The first time” Hampton is referencing was last week, when the boy stole his mother’s car and cruised around Cleveland without drawing the attention of authorities. Yesterday’s dangerous, high-speed escapade in his father’s car was different, of course: He drove all the way to Milan, OH, leading Ohio state troopers and local police on a chase that topped 100 mph at times. He avoided their blockades, strip sticks, and was eventually apprehended — amazingly, without injuring himself or others — after crashing into a sign in a ditch.
According to the Sandusky Register, the child was taken to a hospital for evaluation and was then set to be placed in the custody of Erie County Children Services.

The troopers had their hands on their gun butts when they finally stopped him…the images don’t lie. And then he spit in their faces, literally. He’s damn lucky to be alive.
If one of them had been injured or killed in that chase, he’d be dead now. And I have to say that he would have deserved it, since he could have killed or injured officers or just Joe Schmo on his way to the dentist. Or a whole family. Or a busload of kids.
And lest you think I’m saying this because he’s black, I didn’t even know that until I saw the “daddy”. Not that it matters. Blood is always red.
The first time this happened I thought he was white. yeah, the FIRST time. It’s time to put this boy into a cage before he kills somebody. or several somebodies. Or me or my wife.
Don’t let him walk this time. Put him in a rubber room or wherever crazy feral kids go. Otherwise, he will undoubtedly kill somebody and the State of Ohio will be to blame. Lawsuits by next of kin will not bring back the victims. Lock this little piece of shit up and let him rot. Or at least chill out and maybe grow the fuck up…without killing anybody.
