Euclid drivers on their way home from work yesterday afternoon got stuck in heavy traffic, but not for the usual reasons.
Turns out, one sweet 25-pound turtle was just trying to mind its business and crawl across the intersection of East 228th St. and Lakeshore Blvd. Unfortunately for all involved, turtles aren't able to dart through traffic with the greatest of ease.
That's when the Euclid police stepped in, removing the unharmed and clearly fearless reptile from the road and placing it in the much-more-safe-for-turtles Sims Park.
June is a big time of year for turtles to make the perilous trek to lay eggs and nest, and that often means having to cross busy thoroughfares in the process. Find out more about how to help a turtle cross the road right here.
