We’re not usually in the business of helping criminals get away with their crimes, but we do have one suggestion: take a break from illegal endeavors when it snows, because footprints in the snow make it really super easy for cops to track your path. Just a suggestion. Put off your next caper until you see nothing but green grass.
Gregory Clark learned the hard way, joining an illustrious group of incompetent thieves who waltzed around in the white stuff leaving tracks for police to find.
The Plain Dealer reports the 47-year-old allegedly broke into Michael Hayes Jewelry in Solon. Coppers followed footprints in the snow from the scene of the crime to a parking spot. They then followed the tire tracks to Brainard Rd., where they found a suspicious looking car running a stop sign.
Clark bailed from the vehicle, sprinting through yards and disposing of the ill-gotten jewelry goods. When they finally caught up to Clark, he had yet more of the stolen property on his person. He’s charged with grand theft, breaking and entering, fleeing, drunken driving, and more.
