The mild winter has claimed a casualty: the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s annual Daffodil Show, scheduled for April 28-29, has been axed from the schedule because there won’t be any daffodils left by then. The way things are going, we may be picking our first tomatoes by then.
Generally, daffodils start poking out in the next week or two and are at their peak throughout April. This year, they were up and at ’em around St. Patrick’s Day.
According to the Botanical Garden’s press release,
Garden-goers shouldn’t worry, though. Plenty of other flowers will continue to bloom at the Garden in April and May, leading up to a summer of beautiful sights and scents in 10 acres of outdoor gardens.
That includes the plants featured in the African Violet & Gesneriad Show April 14-15. They are indoor plants unaffected by the weather. — Anastasia Pantsios
