A Cedar Point police officer was assaulted and robbed earlier this week in an Elyria hotel after meeting and paying a woman for sex, the Sandusky Register reports.

The cop, 24-year-old Christopher Cassell, was apparently responding to a prostitution ad he found on Craigslist and had paid the woman he was meeting $100. Before the pair could get down to business, though, the hotel room was stormed by three men and Cassell was attacked.

The Sandusky Register’s Courtney Astolfi reports:

“Cassell stated that he was choked until he lost consciousness. (He) was unconscious for several minutes, and when he awoke, all of the subjects were gone,” [Elyria police Capt. Chris] Costantino stated.

His wallet was stolen, as was a personal handgun, which was later recovered by detectives.

Investigators conducted interviews and soon charged Dominique Mincy, 27, and Jordan Marquez, 21, with robbery for the incident. The third alleged robber remains at large.

The woman Cassell was meeting, Dawn Gibson, was also apprehended and charged with complicity to robbery, solicitation and drug paraphernalia.

Cassell, who has been working as a Cedar Point police officer since 2014 and is also a part-time Lorain County sheriff’s deputy, has resigned from his positions and is being charged with a third-degree misdemeanor for soliciting sex.

He’s pleaded no contest to the charges, Astolfi says.

  1. They kicked me out of their hotel for smoking and I don’t smoke, that’s how stupid Cedar Point is. Gun toting ho hunting cop, and a horrible staff. I will never go there again. I am a disabled vet doing that for my family and that’s Cedar Points Ty. And charged for 2 rooms that I didn’t stay in.
