After a water line broke last weekend and caused a two-day long shutdown of the entire park, 16 Cedar Point employees were arrested at 3 a.m. on Sunday after a mass brawl broke out at the park’s rec center, according to the Sandusky Register. 16 felony charges ensued.
One man, apparently, was so determined to resist arrest that he just walked away, dragging behind him three officers who were attempting to bring him down as he went, the Register reported (we’re not sure what this says about the abilities of the Cedar Point police force). He eventually succumbed to a taser.
Hopefully the past week’s debacles aren’t setting a precedent for how the rest of Cedar Point’s season is going to go.

People need to grow up and act like adults.
they were just getting a little rowdy on a rare weekend off! good for them
Well I got say one thing at lease those Employees aren’t going to be working with the public once the park open up. Just think if this had happen wail the park was open and guest were there. Not only put a bad mark on the park but people life could be in danger. I am ride operator my self at amusement park Elitch’s Garden out in Denver Colorado and I take pride in my work and job. So I hope those who got trouble feel like scum of the earth losing one the funnest job on the earth.
As Bill Cosby recounted about employees being given time off, They say, “Boy, am I glad to be back here. I’m no good on my own. I was given two whole days and I just went crazy.”
Unfortunatrely since these employees went crazy on company property, they will be former employees.
Get em boys
Stop hiring these hoods from Michigan. Problem solved.
Working at Cedar Point was MANY things, but it WAS NOT “one of the funnest jobs on earth”. Just saying…
I don’t judge a park by idiot employees. I work for Busch Gardens and we have idiots there too, but I love my job. I don’t let people bring me down.
that does NOT make me feel comfortable that these people control our rides there.
AND JOSH BAKER, TRY LOOKING UP THE INFO….90% OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE FROM OHIO YOU IDIOT
jennifer, a lot of the employees who work at cedar point are from ohio sure, however a large portion of the people who live on property where the “rec center” is are from michigan, especially since you can only live there if you live 30 miles away from the park
Lol. These comments.
Working at Cedar Point is amazing, I had so much fun. HOWEVER, there are ALOT of stupid, trashy and immature employees..Most work in food or games 😛 Living in the commons area with them was interesting I guess… They fought all the time and always caused drama.. This is not surprising at all to me, specially when there we’re so many drug busts and what not when I was working there. Everyone is constantly going out and getting wasted so what do you expect. We went out just about every night. I mean controlling the rides is NOT hard at all so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. You cant be that surprised.. Its mostly just kids getting away from home and going crazy. Most of them cant handle that little amount of responsibility they need and do shit like this..
Something is wrong, and Cedar Point needs to get this under control. Drug use is common? Drunkness is an every night event? Fights often break out?
This is not excusable.
I worked there last year and this unfortunately doesn’t surprise me that much. Don’t get me wrong, working at Cedar Point was an amazing experience and I made a lot of good friends and memories, but there’s a lot of riff-raff going on with the employees behind the scenes. Luckily, I had decent roommates and a decent work crew so I stayed away from all that.
I think the employees and the police and everyone involved were stuck out at the point. All these people may have had plans and commitments sat night or the next day. In this unusual situation I’m not surprised ere were hot tempers and some issues. I don’t condone the behaviour but I wouldn’t be too quick to judge. If you were suddenly trapped at work on a weekend overnight what issues would you have to deal with that you might lose your temper. We were there for the weekend an only got in the park on Friday and everyone we dealt with Friday at the park and Saturday Sunday in town were truly amazing. I look forward to rescheduling another trip.
I’d bet that all employees involved were American
Thanks Obama.
This is no different than college campuses and dormitories. Put a bunch of young impressionable kids in an unsupervised environment, which for many of them is their first exposure to such, and things like this happen.
It was about all people from Detroit and sorry I have to say about all of them were black people by the sounds of their names??!! Apparently this is more common than people think??!! From the comments of former employees it comes as no surprise!!
SANDUSKY — Sixteen Cedar Point employees were arrested early Sunday when Sandusky police responded to a large fight in a recreation area at Cedar Point Commons, which is the park’s employee housing area.
Officers were on scene for another call when they learned of the fight about 3:15 a.m. and went to assist Cedar Point police.
Arrested for disorderly conduct and aggravated rioting were:
Lawanda Harris, 21, of Detroit
Cashia Moyer, 19, of Youngstown
Lavon Epps, 19, of Flint, Mich.
Jarrett Stennis, 22, of Southfield, Mich.
Joshua Brown, 32, of Ypsilanti, Mich.
Marquise Nicholson, 19, of Detroit
DeShaun Harris, 20, of Flint, Mich.
Galen Hobdy, 20, of Canton
Brandon Williams, 21, of Flint, Mich.
Curtis Prentice, 23, of Canton, also charged with resisting arrest
Kyreese Whitacker, 21, of Flint, Mich.
Dajon Williams, 19, of Roseville, Mich.
Sterling Jenkins, 24, of Flint., Mich.
Rick Miles, 23, of Flint., Mich.
James Ewing, 21, of Detroit
Ja’Quan Pittman, 22, of Flint, Mich.
@Brad, you’re stretching with the “all of them” comment there. I mean, names like Galen, Joshua, and Sterling are super popular with the African American community nowadays. Heck, I don’t know a single white person in the history of the world that was named James, Rick, Brandon, Curtis, or Jarrett (as long as you don’t include the millions of white people named Galen, Joshua, Sterling, James, Rick, Brandon, Curtis, or Jarrett).
Yeah, right, all my Caucasian friends have names like Lawanda, Cashia, Marquise, DeShaun, Kyreese, Dajon, and JaQuan. Uh-huh. What…no Antwan…or Antone…or however the hell it’s spelled this week? Yeah, they’re Caucasian, all right. Wanna buy my bridge to Canada?
Do the math…thirteen of the sixteen were from SE Michigan. They just took their talents…fisticuffs…attacking cops…to Northwest Ohio. Thugs is thugs, and state lines don’t change that. Fire them, fine them, ban them from the park and from ever working there again. Trash stinks no matter where you dump it. The lake used to be a good place for that, but the EPA spank.
I’m sick of hearing about this kind of crap. Whatever sympathy I may have had for “disadvantaged youth” is long gone. And stuff like this is the reason why.
Chuckles the Clown
the racism and ignorance sprouted here is disgusting…it was 3 am…how many “guests” were there? i think few if any…sounds like many a college campus after a “fun” win by a sports team…big deal!
