At the same time, “sister marches” are being organized in nearly 300 other cities. Cleveland is one of them.
The Women’s March on Cleveland is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Public Square. More than 1,000 people have already RSVP’d to the Facebook event.
“One afternoon while taking a break from research in our office, we discovered the Women’s March on Washington,” organizers Laura Johnson and Claudia Pasmatsiou wrote in a joint statement. “We saw that many cities were hosting sister marches, but were disappointed to find that Cleveland wasn’t on the map. So we decided to take action and organize a local event.”
Speakers will address the crowd, and the march will begin around 11 a.m. (The route will take people from Public Square toward the Free Stamp and back.)
The event is free, and all are welcome.

Actually, there was an even larger political statement made a few months ago. Over 100 million people took time out of their day to vote in the shining beacon of democracy, and elected a new leader fort the country! I’m so glad these strong women will be celebrating the democracy of America! I look forward to seeing all 25 of them gather in Public Square.
You mean 250,000 women!!! And WE didn’t elect a leader – the bigots of all stripes elected their Grand Dragon.
Why do bigots always have to try to hurt other people? Sign of insecurity!
So your only explanation for the failure of your Grand Delusion is bigotry? And you believe that 250,000 women will show up to Washington (I am assuming not Cleveland, which was the topic of the story)? And you believe that because you don’t like it, he is not OUR President? I’m afraid you will be taught another painful lesson in the mid-term elections.
I know this will not be pleasant for you – but you are delusional, and i don’t mean that as an insult. You simply cannot see the world as it truly is. Cleveland will get 60 women to show if its not raining, 20 if it is. The rest, hopefully, will get on board and try to make America a better place, even if you don’t like who occupies the White House.
Dear Getoverit.
We love you.
To getoverit, and all the rest of you nameless trolls: if you can’t be bothered to register here before you rant, then you don’t really matter, and you need to take your paws off the keyboard, step away from the “send” key, and SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Chuckles the Clown
Oh, the delicious irony of being called an “anonymous troll” by Chuckles the Clown. I realize that I likely violated the rules of your safe space, but I don’t much care. You see, my comments had substance and a pint of view. Yours have nothing but curse words and impotent rage. Not that I didn’t enjoy it….i really did!
But to that end, you can shout all you like, but it doesn’t change the fact of the matter – that Trump is your president, that he was democratically elected, and that the liberals are now a fractional party with control over no branch of government. Sounds like my opinion, and the opinion of the electorate DOES matter, no matter how many silly “protests” you kids attempt to virtue signal with.
But hey, nice cat!
PLEASE quit insulting one another. Problems are never solved responsibly when this occurs. Generally each are not listening to one another’s point of view. In my opinion a person is charged up w/ negative words and can only eagerly wait to write their response. It appears the conversation is going no where. Respect for one another no matter what their point of view may be in my mind is the key to solving problems of the world and it starts w/ each one of us and where we are on our journey of life. Sincerely, JARS
He was democratically elected? Please. The evidence of Russian chicanery makes that statement a sick joke, and I have to laugh at it…and you…to keep from crying. Shining beacon of democracy? Insulting those you disagree with and calling them delusional and fractional and a minority? Your comments have real substance, all right. So does cat shit.
Need I remind you that Orangy Boy LOST the popular vote by THREE MILLION? Yeah, right…a minority…uh huh…tell me another one…
As for the protesters being kids, you will be surprised at who shows up, and how many. Some of us are probably old enough to be your father or grandfather. Don’t ASSUME, it makes an ASS out of U and ME…but mostly U.
Have a shitty day!
Chuckles the Clown
.
Oh Chuckles, you seem triggered. I’m guessing that’s why you keep resorting to name calling and cursing…hardly the traits of civility.
Ill go another round with you though:
1) If you have evidence of Russian “chicanery”, I would suggest you contact the FBI immediately. From all the reports they have issued, I have seen no evidence other that platitudes that “Putin likes Trump”, which is no shock given that HRC wanted war. Other than the immediately-debunked PP-gate, there is nothing but conjecture.
2) If you don’t think America is a beacon of democracy around the world, you need to study your history and geo-politics.
3) I stated the term delusional was not an insult, and it wasn’t. Anyone stating that Trump is not legitimate is delusional – you cannot take the world as it is. That’s my point – these “protests” show people to be delusional and out of touch as opposed to the freedom fighters of an insurgent force. They are sore losers.
4) Fractional – Again, fact. Dems are now minorities in the White House, The House of Reps, the Senate, and soon to be the Supreme Court. Republicans now control 33 State governorships and 32 State Legislatures. That’s a marginal, fractional party by definition. And the more you double down on the insults, profanity and hate, the further behind your causes will fall.
5) The “popular vote” means absolutely nothing, and never has. Its the same as saying that the Cavs scored more BASKETS last night than the Warriors, and they would win because having some baskets worth 3 points isn’t fair. I’m sorry Chuckles, those aren’t the rules, and they never were. Trump won, and you could see it coming. His rallies brought tens of thousands, and HRC couldn’t scrape together 500 even with Lebron James there!
Look, good luck with your “protest march” on Friday. I stand by my estimates, and hey, if there are more there than I expect, good on you! But the point is, if you want to be heard, stop with the crybully protests, and look inward to your party to understand where you went wrong. Here’s a hint – it wasn’t Putin that lost you the election.
Most of these demonstrators are paid by the DNC. So you can call them employees from. The DNC is basically a front a much more dangerous cause. Those who always point the finger are those who are always at fault.
Looks like sunny and 60 Degrees for Saturday.
10,000 is my number.
I hope after the march young, (and old) liberals look not to their party but the rules by which elections are run in the United States.
Rule 1: States control all elections and are legally able to make it up as they go along.
Whichever Party controls your State, controls the Rules.
But it’s not equal in that regard either: Republicans have the advantage in gerrymandering because of the sprawled geography of their base voters.
Rule 2: Where you vote matters.
States not only control the voting process, they vary in electoral power, loosely based on population.
That power, or number of Electoral votes can only be reapportioned after a Census every 10 years.
Assume it won’t change much if at all in your voting lifetime and strategize around that.
But that’s not the whole story. Individual voters have more power as individuals in smaller States, even though that doesn’t result in more power at the Federal Level, but it can at the State Level.
Dondrea, would you be so kind as to inform me how and where I can pick up my decades of back pay from the DNC? I never got the memo. How do I collect my moolah and whom do I see?
Are your eyes brown? They must be, as you are full of shit up to your eyeballs. You are drowning in it.
Chuckles the Clown
Yeah!! I have been in half a dozen marches and never got my DNC check either!
(what a dumbass Fox follower)
Half a dozen marches? If Orangy Boy wins a second term, I will have been in half a dozen DECADES worth of marches.
Also Marches (like the month), as I will…assuming I’m still breathing…be pushing eighty by then.
Hope my knees hold out.
Chuckles the Clown
I am planning to march. Last I saw, 3,000 were signed up on Facebook. I stand for equality for all and preservation of our planet. Actions will speak louder than words. If you didn’t vote, you need to at the next opportunity…that is how democracy works.
getoverit is so frighteningly ignorant and bigoted, like his master. Why are all these drumpf supporters so nasty? Their master won, they should be happy – not that bigots are ever happy, really. The tangerine terror tantrum will be defeated, one way or another – like Hitler, Mussolini, et al. Let’s not waste our time on fearmongering haters like ‘getoverit’.
response to point.2.I.Q. getoverit – it hurts you that you’re wrong, doesn’t it? You have proven your bigotry time and time again in just a few posts. Your ‘facts’ are (like Fox News) always skewed and wrong. There will be thousands of people who believe in standing up to bigotry and oppression at the march tomorrow.
Do you even know (or care) that your ‘candidate’ was endorsed by the Klan and the Neo-Nazi party? WIth whom you must agree or you wouldn’t have voted for the tangerine terror tantrum. Hating the groups of people that you do makes you a bigot,
It’s unfortunate that your parents and drumpf’s parents didn’t love their children enough to raise them to do the right things, instead of espousing hate, fear, negativity and bigotry.
Love trumps hate, EVERY TIME. You and your SS troops can write whatever you want. You will ultimately lose, and that’s what makes you so angry. I feel pity for you and your master – but that won’t make all of US fight any the less.
I will be attending the march on Saturday. I am not a liberal/ generally vote more republican, but my heart aches for what the next four years will bring. Let’s march for respect of women, acceptance for all human beings, LGBT rights and let our new President know that all voices matter and that we will be holding him accountable.
I’m not sure what caught my attention the most; the incredibly large turnout or those
adorable Pink Pussyhats. To say the event was awe inspiring is clearly an understatement.
I too have been “shell shocked” by the results of the 2016 Presidential Election but also
re-awakened to the fact of what this recent inauguration truly represents. It didn’t seem
possible that this day would arrive in the United States during my lifetime but it has. The
conditions created by the powers that be resulted in the election of someone born into
wealth spending their whole life pursuing the enhancement of that personal wealth all for
the sake of feeding one of the most selfish egos to every walk the planet. And the worst
part of it? The degradation of all women regardless of their background. How nauseating
indeed.
But from this onslaught there is at last a flicker of hope soon to be turned into a smoldering
fire that will burn away the hatred exhibited and serve to restore the balance so often
sought but rarely achieved in this country. Yes the time is now for the women of the
United States {you heard it here first} to form the “Suffragette Party” in response to the
extremism that has been thrown their way and begin the process of running candidates
at all levels of government not as the “Tea Party” did with it’s right-wing agenda {that
eventually fizzled} but rather a course that only women know how to plot and execute.
Let the mantra of “I am woman hear me roar” fill the hearts and minds of these new
found political warriors so that our country can finally be lead by that part of our species
with the true gentle and loving spirit.
