Just when we begin to think that Dennis Kucinich couldn’t possibly bring more joy to our lives, he does.

Gawker reports that Kucinich has taken a break from seeking UFOs and begging for a new congressional district long enough to file a lawsuit over a rogue olive pit. Kucinich is suing the company that runs the congressional cafeteria because in April 2008 he purchased a sandwich wrap that contained an olive pit, which upon biting, apparently caused some pain and dental damage. He is seeking $150,000 in damages. A portion of the lawsuit is below.

Lost enjoyment? We’re assuming that means he couldn’t kiss his beautiful wife for a day or two, but we’re not sure. As Gawker notes, with video evidence, Kucinich seemed fine and dandy speaking on the floor of the House just five days after the alleged incident. We’re not judging, of course. Just merely happy that Dennis is a never-ending spout of merriment and that whatever dental damage occurred, it could not stifle his spout.

  1. Vince G…im not exactly sure what yer beef is.. I mean, anyone would do the same thing. I mean wouldnt you expect a “wrap” to have pitted olives, since they are hidden inside?

“Kucinich seemed fine and dandy” (whatever that means) “just five days after” the incident. Would YOU have been laid up in the hospital because of the same injury?

150 large seems like alot. But most of us know that in court, whether we are talking money, or human lives, the amount is always higher than a reasonable amount. Will he get 150 Gs? prolly not. Will his attorney take alot of whatever he gets? Yes.

Vince G, you are a turd.

  2. Koucinich is a douchbag …. plain and simple. The waste of a congressman shoild just retire and disappear !!!

  3. I’ve had three total knee replacements and needing another. now dennis do you want to talk about pain. if you sue for that then you will be hearing about my lawsuit if i don’t get any cooperation friday when i see my new doctor.

  4. I’ve had a similar problem with severe cracks to two and maybe 3 teeth. Treatment via crowns can be attempted, but the injured teeth may require root canals or extraction and implants to correct. These procedures can cost upwards of $5000 per tooth, or more. One does have pain with chewing and the dental work that follows. And, some folks have problems with the implants “taking” due to thinning jaw bones from age or other reasons. Loss of enjoyment occurs because every time you chew you must be careful not to further damage any cracked teeth that remain and you may injure the nerve(s)–and cause pain–in the damaged teeth. Pain is pain whether it be in one’s knee or mouth. Not a frivolous lawsuit for damages; question is, what is a “reasonable” tab for the damages caused.

  5. Next time any server provides food to Dennis K., I think they should use all their fingers to check every nook and cranny for either bones, pits, grissle, staleness, or undercooked portions. Then once its been manhandled to the nth degree, smile as you wipe your nose and hand him the plate of food. Better to be safe than take a chance on a nice looking plate of food.

Ooooh, better yet, ask Dennis if he’d like you to chew the food up first to make sure it is safe to eat.

  6. T13, obviously, you have never bought and eaten a jar of pitted olives. Usually, about one in every 4-5 jars will have one pit still intact. Its the same with canned cherries. And what the hell was he chomping down so hard for? Slow down when you eat and broken teeth can be avoided.

  7. So let me get this straight, for over two years, this wasn’t addressed, and now soon he will be out a job, with no marketable skills, he wants cash. Am I reading this correctly? Another fine example of representatives at work. I would think that the cafeteria would have been working with him since the incident because he IS a congressman. Isn’t there some assumption of risk as well, while you eat at restaurants? I don’t remember reading about it, like George chocking a pretzel. Maybe we can all sue because of the quality of “beef” at the local chain we’re reading about, or the gas it caused last year.
