Considered part of the “classic line-up” of Devo, drummer Alan Myers played a crucial role in helping the seminal New Wave/punk band form its sound shortly after it formed in Akron in the early ’70s. Though he wasn’t the original drummer, he played on the band’s most popular albums. He died of cancer this week and the band posted a tribute to him here.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.
