The Euclid Police Department has fired officer Michael Amiott, who was seen violently beating Richard Hubbard III during a traffic stop earlier this year. Mayor Kirsten Gail said the move is a response to multiple complaints about Amiott’s behavior on the force.

In August, video of Hubbard’s arrest raised serious questions about Amiott and the department in general. (That story came in the wake of the March 2017 shooting death of Luke Stewart.)

At a City Council meeting after the arrest, Gail told the community that Amiott was receiving the most robust suspension the administration could muster. The firing comes after further investigation into Amiott’s background, according to the city.
