Fox 8's Mark Zinni Is Leaving Cleveland

Mark Zinni, who has served as an anchor and reporter on Fox 8 News for the last five years and who recently took home the Scene staff pick for Best Twitter to Follow in Cleveland, announced this morning on his personal Facebook page that he is leaving Cleveland in mid-September.
I just spent the past few weeks making the most difficult decision, both personally and professionally.

While I can't share all the details yet, I can tell you that I will be leaving FOX 8 by mid-September. We'll be taking our talents (LeBron, get it?) back to New England.

Garith Fulham has been listening to me agonize over this, because I grew up watching Channel 8, I love the station, the management and most of all, my coworkers. Sometimes I still can't believe that I work there!

My bosses at 8 are truly kind, genuine people who I consider to be friends. They tried very hard to keep me and one reason (of many) it was so hard to turn them down is because I know the best is yet to come at FOX 8.

I'm sharing this now because they've "officially" been made aware and people have been hearing all sorts of things... I know, gossip in a newsroom, can you imagine?

I'm not going to get all sappy but this year has been an emotional roller coaster with my health scare followed by my mom's recent surgery. But my mom, dad and siblings all helped us make this decision and I know it's the right time, but that doesn't mean any of this is easy.

Garith will continue to do his amazing work by traveling from our new home and Ellie's fate is yet to be determined.......

Just kidding, she's coming.
As Zinni mentions in his post, additional details are forthcoming. For what it's worth, we here at Scene will be sad to see him go.
