There was a thing recently when everyone got worked up over data that showed that women in the Obama Whitehouse are paid 18% less than men (based on median salary data.) The Washington Beacon, which did the research, didn’t publish the numbers. Averaging, instead of using the median, might show different trends, but who knows.
Gender pay gaps are wrong, Obama has spoken out against the issue before, no excuses if true.
Plunderbund took the lead and gathered salary data for John Kasich’s statehouse to compare. The differences there between the take-home for men and women are even more pronounced. (Plunderbund does point out first, however, that half of the 34 staffers are women. So there’s that.)
Anyway, the data:
Of the 34 people listed as Governor’s office employees, only 4 of the top 17 paid staffers are women (76% are men). And only 4 of the bottom 17 are men (76% are women). The chart below shows the distribution, with women listed in yellow and men in blue.
If we take the average yearly salaries for men and women, we end up with a 57% difference in favor of men:
Women: $49,498.52
Men: $77,730.88If we use the median, which is the same measure used in the Obama staff salary analysis, we end up with an even larger difference: 106%!
Women: $35,006.40
Men: $72,009.60

I wonder if similar jobs are compared or this is just a total of all. If just a total, it means nothing.
Boo freaking hoo. Stats like this are almost always always skewed. If not, I’m sure some lawyer will be all over the government in 50 seconds so they can collect their 500 billion dollar settlement.
