— 911, where is your emergency?
— This is Mr. Burbridge. 1138 South Cleveland-Massillon Road. Get me an ambulance here. Emergency. Emergency.
— OK. What’s the problem, sir?
— I just shot my wife.

The caller on the line is Glenn Burbridge, an 86-year-old Copley Township resident who allegedly (or I guess you could say admittedly?) capped his wife Alice in their bedroom on Wednesday night. The two had been arguing, according to Channel 5. The couple had been married for 67 years. And no, it wasn’t one of those botched William Penn tricks. Glenn later told police he did it because his wife no longer loved him.

  1. Mentally confused or dementia? Umm, the lady said she didnt love him, what difference does it make after u spend 67 years with someone. Bang, the hate is over. Get over it and onto the next wife using her husband. NEXT PLZ!

  2. To 2-obvious-y. Whether u love someone or not after being with them for 67 years does make a difference. Apparently u r not married, but if u r, I pity ur spouse. “Bang, the hate is over”? I think not. This man has to live with what he’s done for the rest of his life and so does the rest of his family. I don’t think u’d b so glib if u personally knew this man and his family. Why r u so cynical? Where is ur compassion?

  3. All you FEMALES out there take this as a LESSON. This man put up w/ nearly 3/4 (75 years, it’s been proven females aren’t as good w/ numbers) of a century of NAGGING. HE WAS A VERY TOLERANT MAN!!! Have some empathy.

  4. Just move on……I did….did not kill anyone…..sometimes I wish I could of gotten away with murder….but who would care afterwards….life goes on…fine someone new….

  5. I agree with Venetia. Mr. Burbridge is suffering with some sort of mental illness…Or maybe they both were.

  6. This story is very sad, its easy for people who have never been married to discredit it as a worthless institution or a trying of ones spirit. Life in general is hard and some people just dont have the fortitude to stick it out with one person. 66 years of being married to the same person is a long time, and after that long you plan on dying with the person you’re with. Mr. Burbridge was an old man I am convinced felt this way. I am in no way saying what he did was right, but I can understand a man near the end of his life with a broken heart murdering his wife for taking the one thing he had left in ife away from him. He was thrown a curveball at the wrong moment in his life, age and time have a way of taking its toll on a person’s psyche, its proven, and he reacted. RIP Alice Burbridge I am sorry for your death. I have nothing more to say on this at the moment.
