If it’s time to adjust your job search strategy, here is the good news, the bad news, and the neutral:
Come January, 11 percent of companies in the Cleveland/Elyria/Mentor area will hire more people, according to survey results reported in Crain’s Cleveland Business. Those jobs will probably be in manufacturing, transportation and utilities, financial services, professional business services, and at the casino in leisure and hospitality.
In today’s competitive job market, creating an impactful resume is crucial. For those seeking to explore opportunities in manufacturing or financial services, leveraging job-specific resume templates can highlight your strengths and match you with the right employer.
The downside is that if you’re in construction, working for the government, or in education and health services, 8 percent of your employers expect to downsize during the first quarter of 2012.
Anyone into durable manufacturing, IT, or wholesale and retail will neither find a job nor lose one.

Cleveland and Northern Ohio has always been one of the nations best areas for manufacturing jobs. We make stuff here! We used to make a lot more things than we do now. The things we used to make here are still sold here and throughout the world, but the men and women who originally made things are out of work. The giant corporations who shipped our jobs away blame the ecconomy and our poor work ethic in Cleveland and elsewhere…or our stupidity for not adapting to the brave new world of bottom line business and give-a-shit attitudes by the CEO’s and MBA’s and bean-counters who made certain they would have our products manufactured at the cheapes cost in the world. They hid behind trade agreements and lawyers and rights of corporations as they took away good jobs from us and made no attempts at helping the giant population of manufacturing people to adapt. It was far more profitable to cut-and-run from the humans who gave their lives to make things for businesses for a decent wage to live on. And I am not just talking about steele and cars, but light manufacturing as well. Often making things which were invented or developed right here in Cleveland. The CEO’s and their lawyers and MBA’s and fancy bean-counters fucked us and threw us away. And then told us it was our own fucking fault for being stupid and not adapting to the changing times of greed and anti-human prick leaders.
I have listend to these leaders and their lawyers and MBA’s talk about the worker as though they were failed and antiquated machines which just need to be shit-canned. If I’d had any balls then I would have ranted and raved then, but I guess I was just one of them in a way. A soldier, a salesman, working for pricks who have no compassion or feelings for anyone but their families and friends and political power. Now they call me a revolutionary and a rebel rouser for telling the truth about the lawyers and MBA’s and CEO’s of so many of our big corps. It is the giant businesses who are to blame. The small and medium businesses are guilty of selling out to the giants either by selling their companies or by being ruled by the Wall-Mart mentality. We may still be able to get some of our manufacturing jobs back, but don’t expect it to be without a fight from the big money and the big corps and their MBAs, lawyers and other thugs. They own us all now and want to keep it that way. OWS and the truth which they have brought to the USA since 09/17/11 is only just begun to fight these pricks. They have been non-violent even as the far right has tried to paint them as poop-flinging-drug dealing rapists who want nothing but a hand out from our hard working rich who earned every dime of their billions fair and square….fuck these guys who delivered this recession and the other three over the last thirty years..fuck them for swinging right back to their greed and carelessness where humans are concerned.
