“What, Officer? No, sir, I didn’t think this was a bad idea at all. Why is everyone so upset?”

Someone in the North Doovys called Avon Police around 6:17 p.m. Monday, during trick-or-treating time in town, that a boy about 14 years old, wearing a dark sweatshirt and jeans, was walking along the road carrying a real scythe.

Police talked with the boy, who took the scythe home.

  1. A hidden pocket knife is more dangerous than a scythe. Try chasing somebody around with a 20-30 lb. scythe and see how fast and far you can run. I remember working with one on my grandfather’s farm. They are heavy and awkward to handle. That scythe was more dangerous to the kid himself. Glad the cops just advised the kid to take the scythe home.
