Is the bizarreness of the Zanesville exotic animal episode finished? No, of course not.

The AP reports that five people were charged with trying to steal the carcass of one of the lions that was shot, killed, and buried. Surely they had good reason to…. nevermind. We can’t even finish that sentence. What the hell, Zanesville?

Here’s the money line from the report:

Sheriff’s deputies say in documents released last week that they stopped the group after they loaded the lion’s body into the back of a Jeep several hours after the animals had been set free by their owner.

Swift getaway plan, guys.

The five, which include one teenager, were charged with misdemeanor counts of theft on Monday.

  1. The police should have held an auction for the carcasses with the proceeds going to pay off the costs to have them rounded up in the first place. Also, that meat could have fed quite a few families. What a waste of revenue potential and food source. Think sustainability!

Besides, there would have been a few to pay some big $$ to one day, get that call from the taxidermist and hear …”Your stuffed lion, tiger, or bear (oh my!) is ready for pickup”.
