In our last dispatch from the front lines of the grudge match over Issue 2, we made a slight joke about how pro-Senate Bill 5 supporters probably have piles of RNC cash flooding in from out of state to fund their cause. As it turns out, there’s some truth in the jest.
According to Politico, the campaign to steer Ohioans away from collective bargaining is getting some outside help from the Alliance for American Future, a Beltway-based “all-purpose GOP” group, so says the DC-centric news site. The group is run by — cue the shudders — the daughter of former VP Dick Cheney.

And the Union Thugs aren’t doing anything, right? Not spending a dime, right? The Dems are just sitting on the sidelines, right? A fat butt pencil pusher SEIU lout should get paid $120K+ in salary/pension/benefits for working a few hours out of every 40 on the clock, right?
It’s all the ‘Waspy’ whites who are undermining the country, right?
I want one of those YES to issue 2 signs!
Since when did firefighters become so demonized. What I don’t live check to check like everyone else? Get the facts straight try reading the 300 page bill and see what this is really about. It isn’t the pension (which I pay) or the 15% medical which (I pay almost 20%)but commercials would have you believe this is what it is all about. What should a firefighter/medic make? Anytime you would like to compare my huge paycheck Ill be happy to meet up with you. Or if we are all so lazy and do nothing then grab a waiver and suit up. A 48 hour shift in the inner city may give a better perspective of why safety, manpower, equipment and training are important enough to fight for. And what will a yes vote get you?????Are you going to get a big check from Governor Kasich ,maybe a EMT showing up instead of a paramedic or or a firetruck staffed by inmates (ya thats what other states are trying doing)
I can understand the mass confusion over this issue but it comes down to this all persons private or public all have families to feed and kids to raise and times are tough for everyone ,but to punish one group of people for acts they had no part in making (recession) is not right. Columbus is trying give you something to be mad and to blame while they continue to push through their own agenda.
VOTE NO ISSUE 2
PS. I bought my sign and stickers for my car and no has paid me dime one to knock on doors or make phone calls.
I guess I would have to ask, If this is so good for Ohio, why does the bill exempt all the politicians, their cabinet and their inner circle of employees? Why should they be exempt? Better yet, why did the inner circle get big raises? I don’t doubt that many of the items that the bill addresses are legitimate issues, but it brushes way to wide of strokes! Address the issues, don’t try to push an agenda masked with a few legitimate issues. I agree with the previous comment, Read the Bill! You can’t make a sound argument bases solely on ignorance and what few facts that are published by the two sides of the issue. I have read it, and I plan to vote no! If it is rewritten to address the real issues and the exclusions for Columbus’s inner circle is taken out, I will consider changing my vote!!
