Tribe utility infielder Jack Hannahan had a lot on his mind when the Indians were in Boston recently. His wife, Jenny, was in Cleveland and expecting to go into labor with the couple’s first child at any minute.
Eventually, the kid was on its way and Jenny phoned Jack with the news: get on a plane.
The problem: there were no flights from Boston to Cleveland at that time of the night. Hannahan would fly out in the morning, no doubt too late to witness the miracle of childbirth. As he told teammates about his plight, Justin Masterson asked about a private jet as an option instead. A private jet and its $35,000 price tag was out of the question to Hannahan and his $500,000 contract. That’s when Masterson stepped in. The St. Paul Pioneer reports:
