The bus turns left at a red light, and drives on the wrong side of the road
  • The bus turns left at a red light, and drives on the wrong side of the road

A recently uploaded Youtube video shows a Greater Cleveland RTA bus driver making a left turn at a red light and then driving on the wrong side of the road before blocking both of the right lanes while she picks up another passenger.

It is unclear when it was filmed: The video is grainy, but the weather conditions do match up with this weekend. There are no identical videos posted earlier.

The video is filmed by a guy on a bike (we’re hoping the camera was mounted somewhere instead of him holding it while he’s riding) who’s rightly concerned as he sees the bus illegally turn, driving under the bridge in the wrong direction.

The biker confronts the driver as she opens to doors, spread across two lanes, to let a passenger in. Take a look:

  1. If she was white it would’ve waay different. He’d have just let her know she made a mistake not that weak tattletell thing he pulled…

  2. Being a terrible driver has nothing to do with the color of your skin. If you drive for the city like THIS you should lose your job.

  3. The bus was 2, long she had no choice, 2 make her turn.
and besides she was trying to turn underneath a bridge.maybe she needs more practice, when dealing with the longer buses…..

  4. So Marie, that makes it ok to break the law and put other drivers in harms way??? Quit making excuses for her! SMH!

  5. Hey Nicki Robinson why don’t you take YOUR racist ass out of the country seriously! Because the color of skin has nothing to do with be properly driving a vehicle.whether she needed more practice making turns or not driving that driver has no business being on the toad if she wants too drive like an idiot.

  6. The turn that the bus was SUPPOSED to do would have been easier then the one it ACTUALLY did.

I could see it being a simple mistake in bad weather conditions or construction but not this way. I don’t know if the driver should be fired for something any of us could have done, however, she should definitely get talked to/written up especially since she fixed the mistake and didn’t miss a stop.

  7. The RTA driver reflects the attitude that many people who driver larger vehicles do: Do whatever you want, and pull in front of anyone you want. Anyone that crashes into you is going to get hurt a lot worse than you are; they know that and they’ll brake.

Garbage trucks, school buses, semis, and RTA buses pull this kind of stuff ALL THE TIME. This is nothing new, it’s just not often captured on video.

  8. Maybe she just made a mistake & thought it was a two-lane road. And how would you propose she get into her proper lane in a double bus without blocking any traffic at some point? Why does everyone w/a smartphone think they need to go around taping everything like a bunch or self-righteous Jacks**s?!

  9. The location is NOT unclear. She was pulling out of West Park Station. The stop she pulls up to is at W 143rd & Lorain, as clearly marked by signage at apx 0:32 of the video. The stop is marked 22, 83. This was a 22 bus, one of the long accordion fold ones.

  10. her poor driving skills endanger here passengers and other drivers and should not be permitted . here is proof to be taken to her superiors and the police! if i saw a driver of any vechile driving like this I would have called the cops right then unless she coiuld show a medical reason for her driving like that and then she should be taken to the hospital and not allowed to drive untill cleared of whartever caused the problem.
the fact that when it was pointed out how dangerously she was driving she acted like it was nothing to be concerned about was the only thing that makes me wonder if something is actually wrong with her that could use a doctors help.
cause f know if i noticed my bus driver on th wrong side of the road or pulling over on an angle I would be telling her to pull over, let me off and dont try to drive away as i was calling for help.

  11. Ironically, this underpass was constructed in the Thirties because so many motorists and pedestrians were being killed by TRAINS at the W. 143rd-Lorain grade crossing that used to be there.

This idiot could have killed a carload of folks in a westbound vehicle while driving UNDER the tracks…in a BUS.

Smells like weed to me. Will they even bother to piss test the driver? Probably not.

And for the record, this also ran on tonight’s 7 PM Nooze on Channel 3. There’s nothing funny about this…and it would be even less funny if a whole family had been wiped out. Who did she buy her job from?

The RTA trains are on rails…no problems there. Buses? A diffrerent ballgame. You can get clocked or knifed or involved in a wreck. Or get in a fight with the operator.

RTA…Risky Transportation Always. I like the trains. I avoid the buses. This is why.

  12. The exit lane from the location she was turning out of was blocked by construction. She would not have been able to make a left turn so close to the divider that protects the bridge. She probably wouldn’t have been able to trigger the light to change since she had to use the entry side side of the driveway. While making this sort of maneuver has risks it’s justified under the circumstances. Large trucks do this sort of thing every day all over every city in this country.

  13. Do drivers have the same route daily? I would have to guess this was her first day on this route and she probably made an error in judgement turning under that bridge. Plus she had nothing to gain on the road by going the way she did. Im not excusing her, but people make mistakes. Fortunately no one was hurt. I would piss test to guarantee sobriety, and write her up for wrong turn. But I wouldn’t fire her unless she was a repeat offense. ( And you know she sh*t herself twice; once when she realized she was on the wrong side of the road, and again when the guy on the bike with the video camera pulled up…)

  14. I’ve never seen a truck or any other vehicle do what she did that day. And for an articulated bus to do it…well, that is a scary proposition. Sorry GrifE but you are incorrect sir.
Oh, and the camera was attached to my helmet; the shadow pretty much tells you that.

  15. Actually GrifrE is correct. The lane the driver normally would have used to exit the station was blocked by workers painting in traffic lines, forcing her to exit from the entance lane. But because those articulated busses are so long there was no way for her to clear the underpass divider to make the normal left turn onto the eastbound lane of Lorain Ave. But Even if she was driving the regular buses she wouldnt have been able to make that turn because there simply wasnt enuff room. I should know because until recentlty i was an RTA bus driver and have driven routes out of that station many times. So she really was in a tight situtation, If anything there should have been an RTA officeer out there directing traffic while the workers were out there.

  16. If she made the mistake – and obviously she did – then she was brand new to the route and area. It is a confusing sign – first time I was there I thought the same thing – but after noticing other cars it is quite OBVIOUS!
