I grew up on West 7th. When we mentioned Tremont, we referred to our elementary school. Then it was called either the South Side or Near West Side. I grew up in those housing projects in the 1960’s and 1970’s. I’ve seen the good, bad, and worst of that neighborhood. I’m glad its been revitalized.
Those were good days for everyone who believed! Tremont Art Walk began a few years earlier, when art studios and housing prices were affordable to artists. The artists always start the ball rolling!
Now someone needs to retrace that drive and film it…
Even the homes have the same paint jobs. Not much has changed. Same trash on the street. The cars are different tho!
