Jack Lemmon Approves
It's a high school year book photo ("Pic of the Day: Josh Mandel in Drag," Scene & Heard blog, July 3). Really people? None of you have ever done something ridiculous as a joke? Some would argue that people who put down others may have the most skeletons in their closet. Anyone have something you want to discuss? I will listen and won't even judge or tell anyone else, I promise. It will just be between us and maybe a billion or two of our closest friends. I think the guy's got stones for letting that in the year book.
He doesn't seem to be insecure about anyone questioning his masculinity. He didn't try to keep it a secret; it's right out in the open. Everyone he went to school with must have seen it, and he knew it. It's not like someone discovered it hidden like it was a deep, dark secret. That seems to show security and confidence, and even integrity and credibility more then anything else. Someone find a picture of him with some space aliens, then I'll really be shocked.
Some of the funniest movies with the funniest comedians have had men dressed as women and have done great at the box office. During these challenging times for many people, why not just laugh a little at a ridiculous joke; at least the guy has a sense of humor which is more then we can say for most politicians. I think their idea of fun is taking more money out of our paychecks. Now that's obscene and perverted. Don't we have more important things to discuss than Josh [Mandel] dressed like a woman? Can't we just all get along?

Meh, shock jocking just produces more people with anger-management issues ("New Cleveland Radio Station Auditioning Talent Saturday," at Scene & Heard blog, July 16). Have someone who is knowledgeable about music and can educate plus have a good repartee with the audience. Why does everything have to be bombastic to be deemed sell-able?
