The tax exempt, not-for-profit- Cleveland Clinic, the same Cleveland Clinic that reduced charity care this year due to economic concerns, paid 13 employees more than $1 million in 2009. The year before, the Clinic made millionaires of only 11 people.
Our friends at MedCity News did the legwork, combing through the 145-page non-profit tax form the Clinic filed with the IRS.
The Clinic millionaires include likely suspects, like CEO Delos “Toby” Cosgrove, who got an 11 percent raise and took home more than $2.1 million in 2009. Next up was Bruce Lytle, chair of the Clinic’s world-renowned Heart and Vascular Institute at $1.5 million, and Constantine Mavroudis who heads pediatric heart surgery. It might be hard to argue that any of them aren’t worth it.
But, the Clinic did pay a guy who must have really been livin’ large in Abu Dhabi that year.

it’s time to tax, the free ride should be abolished. let them pay their fair share.
Sad that nurses at Cleveland Clinic Health System hospitals got a whopping 2%, yep that is correct two percent! Toby Cosgrove is too busy telling smokers they can’t smoke and fat employees need to lose weight, and oh he wouldn’t even hire them if he could…..who’s next single parents, gays, Muslim’s? (strike the Muslims, he is in bed with them in Abu Dhaibi)
