An anonymous caller from the East Side had this to say about “Paradise Lost,” our article about Cleveland Heights’ struggle to deal with white flight from its schools:
“Bottom line is, white kids in predominantly black schools are threatened, intimidated and beat up on, that’s a fact. I’ve known guys that have been there, and it happens… You ought to approach some of those white guys who get beat up and ask ’em how they feel about it. But nobody’ll dare print an article about that, ’cause you know the truth is always a bitter pill to swallow.
White flight happens for a reason. If parents don’t want their kids to get threatened, intimated, and beat up at school, hey–you can’t fault ’em for wanting to move out. Good article, thanks.”
