As promised, the privately-backed Zagster bike share program, which launched only six weeks ago in Ohio City, expands today with new rack locations in Downtown, Tremont and University Circle.

With these additions, the total Zagster fleet stands at 50 bikes. Zagster intends to continue expanding to as many as 200 in the short term.

New locations are at W. 6th, sponsored by Barley House; at W. 11th and Kenilworth in Tremont, sponsored by TremontWest, city councilman Joe Cimperman, Platform Brewery and Civilization Café and City Roast Coffee; and at Euclid Avenue and Cornell Road in the Circle, sponsored by Courtyard Marriott.

The bikes, which cost $3/hour with a cap at $24, have enjoyed moderate rental success thus far. A Zagster rep told the NEOMG that they've been averaging about one rental per bike per day on bike-able days.

All bikes at the new locations will be available for rental starting at noon Friday. (Here's a map of the Ohio City locations).
