The Fest Possible Fundraising Social with The Modern Electric/The Moxies/Teddy Boys/Room 149/The Ranks/Outburst Junior

It wouldn’t be surprising if the boys of The Modern Electric, the headliners of this benefit concert, started the band just for the sake of making music videos. The foursome puts more emphasis on the “cinema” half of their cinematic pop genre, but it was made clear on their self-titled debut album they had already mastered the “pop” part. If you’re in the business of scoring movies, the grating vocals of “Where I Belong” belong in a ’70s-set coming-of-age movie, while the piano rich “All We Have is Now” already has a zombie love story theme. (Really, is there a line cuter than “every beat of your heart is one less I’ve got"?) It’s just a matter of time before The Modern Electric owns the pop world, so we should take advantage while they’re still here. (Nikki Hunt)
