Mobile released its debut CD, Tomorrow Starts Today, in Canada in April 2006. It’s finally set for U.S. release on July 24 via independent label the Militia Group. The album -- loaded with classic alt-rock songs that are less convoluted than those by fellow Montrealers the Arcade Fire -- helped Mobile snag the New Group of the Year award at this year’s Junos. But that’s only the start, says Joly. “We’ve been waiting for the States forever.”
The group just launched its first U.S. tour. In addition to performing songs from Tomorrow Starts Today, Mobile will play several new cuts onstage. After all, it’s been a couple of years since those old ones were written. “We’ve played these songs so many times,” says Joly. “At least we’re excited about the new audiences.”
